About KcalCraft

KcalCraft is a small, independent website of nutrition calculators — TDEE, calorie targets, BMR, macros, protein, carbs, deficit planning, body fat, and BMI — built and maintained by Nan Liang, an independent developer. It exists because most calculators online return a single overconfident number, while the honest answer is usually a range with a named equation behind it.

The approach here is different: every calculator states which equation produced the number, shows competing equations where they disagree (Mifflin-St Jeor alongside the NASEM 2023 EER on the TDEE page, for example), and lists the peer-reviewed sources for each formula at the bottom of the page. All calculation happens in your browser — your height, weight, age, and body measurements never leave your device, never appear in URLs, and are never uploaded anywhere.

Nan Liang is responsible for everything on this site: the calculators and their math, the guides and methodology pages, the comparison content, and the legal pages. Content is written from primary sources — the original equation papers and major evidence syntheses, each cited with author, year, journal, and PMID or DOI — and each page states what its numbers support and what they do not.

How the site is funded, and its limits

KcalCraft is free to use and is supported by display advertising placed by ad networks. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored content, and no paid placement: advertisers never see your calculator inputs, and advertising never influences which equations the calculators use or how results are presented. If the funding model changes, this page and the privacy policy will say so first.

An honest limitation, stated plainly rather than hidden behind credentials: no part of this site has been reviewed by a registered dietitian, physician, or other clinical professional. The content is engineering work grounded in peer-reviewed literature, written by a developer, not medical advice produced by a care team. We respond to that limitation the way we respond to every limitation here — by narrowing scope (the site addresses healthy adults only, with explicit redirects elsewhere for minors, pregnancy, and medical conditions) and by citing sources you can audit. If you find an error, email [email protected]; valid corrections are made promptly.

More about the developer: Nan Liang, independent developer, also maintains a personal page at javaeye.dev/about. That URL is the canonical profile reference for this site's structured data.
